questions
What is the best age to start piano lessons?
Most children are ready between ages 5 and 7, once they know their basic alphabet (A-G) and can sit for 15–20 minutes. However, readiness is individual! I offer a brief “Meet & Greet” to see if your child is ready to start their musical journey.
Do I need a piano at home to start?
Yes, you will need an instrument for practice. While an acoustic piano is ideal, a digital piano or keyboard is a great way to start. It should have 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal to ensure the student develops the correct finger strength and technique.
How much should a student practice?
Consistency is more important than duration. For beginners, 10–15 minutes a day, 5 days a week is plenty. As students progress, practice time naturally grows alongside their interest and repertoire.
Do you teach adults?
Absolutely! Whether you are a total beginner or returning to the piano after years away, I specialize in helping adults learn at their own pace in a stress-free environment.
Do we have to take RCM exams?
Not at all. While I offer a structured RCM Preparation Track for those who want certificates and formal goals, I also offer a Recreational Track for students who simply want to play for the joy of it.
What happens during the Introductory Meeting?
This is a relaxed, 15-minute session where we get to know each other. I’ll show you the studio, we’ll discuss your goals, and I can answer any specific questions you have before we commit to a lesson schedule.
